The Week in Words – Busy ten days edition!

Thirty-three floors. Fifteen seconds. Sounds like the tag line for a horror movie! However, this lift journey was far from scary. Our final destination this time was an amazing view of the capital. Where could be better to end a week?

Our high flying executives travelled down to London for an exciting business meeting. A black cab awaited like an Apprentice challenge and Rachel, Ben and Dan where whisked away to the Shard. This was almost like a movie.

A quick round of ‘Happy Birthday’ in the elevator made sure Rachel was uplifted (Ba-boom-tsch) and invigorated for her arrival in Europe’s tallest building.

Arriving on floor 33 after a lightning speed trip, Dan and Ben reverted to big children scouting out football grounds on the horizon through the 1,110 glass panels that make up the iconic building. The sky really was the limit. A inspiring meeting then led to a sprint finish to the train station, like Usain Bolt in suits and ties. With Ben and Dan’s dodgy knees, we’ve missed out on Team GB for Rio 2016, but we’re always gunning for gold back in Wolverhampton.

What was the meeting about I hear you cry? There’s not a lot left to say except we hit them for six and it’s an exciting leap for us. Watch this space!

Talking of space, Tom’s desk is now a quiet zone 3 days-a-week, as he returned for his final, exciting year at University. The graphic-design guru is now in a world of lectures and essays, whilst still completing fantastic projects for Small Man Media. He’s a busy bee but his work still full of sting. His recent video for Derwent is well over 1000 views and continues to climb.

Colour is IN at the moment. Green is great, pink is perfect and blue is brill! Much like Rexel’s Joy range, Smiggle’s Christmas campaign is full of superb shades. Sehrish, our in-house fashionista, is pulling together gift guides to get everyone thinking about Christmas! It comes earlier every year!

As does National Stationery Week! Katharine and Sehrish have begun to finalise plans this week and with the exciting news of Dustin Hoffman shopping in Ryman, the week-long event is going to be bigger than ever this year!

Elsewhere, ACCO launched their Auto Feed Awareness week and we’re already achieving a fantastic amount of coverage. Our productive team have really powered hard to achieve this and we’re over the moon that the general public can follow ACCO’s lead in protecting data and become more productive!

After a long productive day, there’s nothing we enjoy more than colouring! Derwent’s book is now available and we’ve coloured every animal under the sun. A green fox is not out of the question anymore! We’ve achieved some coverage for the gorgeous colouring book and people are really excited to get their hands on this beautiful piece.

Beautiful pieces moves me onto clothing and music! Sehrish attended a star-studded launch for Louis Vuitton’s new line this weekend and was honoured to see new pieces galore whereas Dan interviewed top-10 artist The Shires and got into a right hoedown at the country band’s gig in Birmingham. Our team’s weekends are always packed full of culture and exciting things are happening in, out and around the office!

Our team has expanded once again, with a fluffy new recruit who chases leads, has a real nose for news and takes the ‘woof’ with the smooth times. Jake, Rachel’s little birthday puppy, is certainly the talk of the office now and we’re excited to meet the little rascal. Hopefully, he can help us hound out some new stories.

I’ll stop now, these puns are pawful!
