Derwent support North Lakes Food Bank
Derwent, fine art materials brand based in Cumbria, are supporting the North Lakes Food Bank with storage space to receive and distribute food deliveries and a financial contribution.
Food Bank usage remains at a record high in Britain – with over one million three-day emergency supplies given to people in crisis in 2015/16 .
The North Lakes Food Bank supports individuals and families who are in financial hardship or in need of emergency care. 2016 has already been a busy year for the charity following the severe floods that damaged many businesses and homes in Cumbria during 2015.
Derwent are providing space at their factory in Workington to receive, store and distribute dry foods and supplies. Derwent have also donated £1000 to the North Lakes Food Bank, to help care professionals locate those most in need.
During the school holidays North Lakes Food Bank supports an additional 500 families with support as financial and social pressures increase. Derwent donates a selection of its Lakeland range during this time to help children supported by the North Lakes Food Bank engage in fun and creative play.
Simon Wells, Vice President at Derwent commented; “We take our responsibilities to our local community very seriously, as a key employer in this region we have a duty to reach out and support those affected by the recent floods.
“The people of Cumbria have given so much to support us throughout our history, we felt it was important to give something back during a difficult period for the North West”.
