A new insurance brokers in South Shropshire is expected to make its mark in the county, quite literally, after pooling more than 60 years of experience to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes.
Headed up by Mark Rogers and Sue Powell, Teme Valley Insurance Brokers is settling into life in the historic market town, with new offices off Parys Road, near the A49.
The couple’s skills dovetail perfectly, with Mark’s 35 years of consumer and commercial insurance experience supplementing agricultural expert Sue, whose life as a farmer’s daughter put her on a natural career path to assist rural enterprises.
Between them, a genuine empathy for the surrounding community has been forged and their pledge to become an indispensible arm of any business can be seen in their refusal to charge broker policy fees for any work they carry out. Teme Valley are appointed representatives of long-standing Shropshire based-brokers Henshalls Insurance Brokers, who last year celebrated their 50th anniversary, meaning that extra-resource is in place should the need arise.
Mark said: “We are a local company that has a keen eye for detail and a genuine interest in each and every customer we work with – whether that be a local tradesman, a business of any size or a farm in the Shropshire fields. Nothing is too small or too big for us to look after.
“We relish the opportunity to visit our customers and gain the levels of understanding that many office based brokers or call centre insurance companies might not be able to offer.”
Sue added: When I visit the farms I pack my wellies, walk around the fields and always gain a unique understanding of each customer. After growing up on a farm in Claverley, it is in my blood. You also need to be able to talk the language of the locals at the cattle market, and often over a mug of tea in the canteen, which we do.”
Mark and Sue offer free insurance ‘healthchecks’ for businesses and promise to create a checklist of issues for a customer to look at, before any agreement is put in place. Services include commercial business insurance, agricultural insurance, car insurance and personal home insurance.
They both reflect on their time in the insurance industry with fondness and are excited about a new chapter in their professional lives, with an ever-changing litigation landscape presenting itself – even in the most familiar South Shropshire setting called home.
Mark added: “With the forthcoming changes in data protection regulation this is clearly a big issue for many of our commercial clients and a topic that we are spending time on, along with cyber insurance generally. We’re here to advise on this, and much much more.
“We want to say that we’re here to help and to ensure that the cover we recommend is not only competitive on price, but that it’s fit for purpose – including the fine print – which is all too often over looked in the pursuit of ever cheaper premiums.
“We’re looking forward to helping our existing customers in this regard and welcoming new ones for any insurance issues they may have.”
